Mobile & PWA
Keep workshop tasks usable on phones and tablets
Use responsive workshop workflows in a mobile browser, install the MotoDesk web app on supported devices and understand online/offline boundaries.
MotoDesk is a responsive web application and installable progressive web app, not a native iOS or Android application. Use it in a supported browser on a phone, tablet or computer, or install it through the browser or device controls when that option is available.
Mobile layouts prioritise workshop actions that make sense beside the vehicle. Dense finance, reporting and configuration screens remain available responsively but are usually clearer on a larger display.
Use the mobile workshop navigation
- Open assigned Jobs and the mechanic job card for status, timer, inspection, note and evidence work.
- Use the workshop floor and Planner slot/dialog actions without depending on desktop drag-and-drop.
- Use the camera or scanner workflow only after granting the required browser permission.
- Open customers, vehicles, parts or invoices when the user's role and active modules permit them.
Install the web app
- Open the live MotoDesk site in the device's supported browser and sign in normally.
- Use the browser's Install app or Add to Home Screen control when it is offered.
- On iPhone or iPad, use Safari's share menu and Add to Home Screen; follow the in-product prompt when shown.
- Open the new MotoDesk icon and confirm that the installed window reaches the expected signed-in workspace.
Understand offline behaviour
The PWA keeps an application-shell fallback so the interface can recover more gracefully from a failed navigation. Live workshop records, saves, searches, documents and integrations still require a working connection to MotoDesk.
Do not assume an action completed while the connection was unavailable. Wait for the success state, reconnect and refresh the relevant job, schedule, stock or financial record before repeating a write.
Use Back and direct links safely
Use MotoDesk's own Back control where a workflow provides one, especially in the installed app. Timeline keeps its date and view in the address so a direct Planner link can return to the intended period, and its Back action has a safe workshop fallback when no useful browser history exists.
If a direct link opens a record that no longer exists or is not available to the signed-in role, return to the relevant list rather than changing the URL manually.
Mobile AI, theme and accessibility
The pinned AI Bottom position becomes a bounded mobile sheet above primary navigation. Minimise it to reach more of the page without discarding the current mounted conversation, or close it when the active request should end.
MotoDesk starts in the default light theme and keeps touch targets, keyboard focus and responsive reading order in the supported interfaces. If text, controls or a table do not fit, rotate the device or use a larger screen for the dense office task rather than zooming out until labels are unreadable.
Troubleshoot a mobile session
- Confirm the device is online and the live site opens in a normal browser tab.
- Check that the correct garage account, role and modules are active.
- Review camera permission before a scan or photograph workflow.
- Close and reopen the installed window after a newly deployed version when the shell appears stale.
- Use Help with the page, device and failed action if the issue remains reproducible.
