AI Assistant
Ask the AI Assistant with the right workshop context
Ask context-aware workshop questions, use current technical web information and request supported technical diagrams within the available plan limits.
The MotoDesk AI Assistant is a conversational workspace available when the AI module is enabled. It can answer against the authorised workshop context supplied by the current page, use current technical web information where available and create supported technical diagrams when the request clearly calls for one.
The assistant supports a decision; it does not replace inspection, manufacturer procedures, workshop responsibility or the source records in MotoDesk. Check technical and commercial answers before acting on them.
Open the assistant and check its context
The assistant can keep separate conversation sessions and their context labels. A context label helps scope the request, but the answer still depends on the information actually available to the signed-in garage and user.
- Open the AI Assistant from the signed-in workspace.
- Read the Current context label before asking the question.
- Open the relevant vehicle, job, invoice, customer, part, staff or section first when the question depends on that record.
- Start a new conversation when the subject or operational context changes materially.
Ask a useful workshop question
- Name the decision or explanation you need, not only a one-word topic.
- Include the symptom, vehicle context, date range or stock question that makes the request specific.
- Ask for the source or limitation when current external technical information matters.
- For operational data, confirm that the relevant MotoDesk records are complete before treating the answer as a report.
Request a technical diagram
Ask explicitly for a supported technical diagram and identify the subject, such as a component relationship, diagnostic flow or timing-chain layout. MotoDesk separates diagram generation from normal text answers and shows the diagram usage allowance where enforced.
A diagram is an explanatory visual, not a measured manufacturer drawing. Check labels, orientation and the relevant technical source before using it beside a vehicle. Use the regeneration action only when another diagram attempt is genuinely needed.
Understand web search and usage limits
The assistant can use current web search for suitable technical questions while the relevant allowance is available. When the monthly core allowance is reached, normal core answers may remain available while live web search is paused; technical diagrams also depend on their own available allowance where configured.
The usage display is the current guide. Avoid repeating the same request merely to change wording, and keep one conversation focused enough that the assistant can use the existing context effectively.
Pin, position or close the workspace
On desktop, pin the assistant when the underlying MotoDesk page needs to remain usable. Choose the Side or Bottom position to suit the task, and minimise it temporarily without discarding the mounted conversation.
On mobile or an installed PWA, the Bottom workspace becomes a bounded sheet above the main navigation. Closing is different from minimising: Close ends the active request and closes the workspace, while reopening a minimised panel retains its current mounted state.
Access and privacy boundaries
AI access depends on the active module and the signed-in user's existing access. Page context is built for the authenticated garage; the assistant does not grant permission to records or actions that the user cannot otherwise access.
Do not add unnecessary sensitive information to a prompt. Use the intended customer, vehicle or job context and keep account credentials, payment details and private security information out of the conversation.
